Kimberly Mihayo - from Aga Khan (Mzizima) to World's top ranking university "Harvard University"

She scoops scholarship from Harvard University
Harvard's history, influence, and wealth have made it one of the most prestigious universities in the world.

She is the last born in a family of 7 children. Her father is a Retired Judge of the High Court of Tanzania, and her mother is an English Teacher at Mbuyuni Primary School. she received Primary School education at the Aga Khan Primary School, and hereafter she did the IGCSE program at the Aga Khan Mzizima Secondary School. she proceeded to join the IB Diploma Program (and equivalent of two years of A-level) at the Aga Khan Mzizima Secondary School, where she recently graduated.

The following is the interview Kimberly Mihayo

How does it feel like getting full scholarship from one of the prestigious University in the world?

It is really a dream come true. I’ve been very blessed and fortunate to have been granted this enormous opportunity, and I am truly thankful.

Which course are you going to specialize?

I want to major in Neurobiology, and eventually maneuver into studies in Public Health and Health Policy in the near future.

Do you have any additional word or suggestion to the public,
government or institutions?

The Government, in collaboration with both Public and Private Schools in our country, needs to ensure that it provides quality Primary and Secondary education that prepares and enables a large number of students to access Higher Level education that is provided in Universities in our country, and in other parts of the world. A strong foundation of preliminary education must be established in order for students to take advantage of the many opportunities that await them in the future.

Many foreign Universities, such as Harvard, provide scholarships to students on a basis of their overall academic performance throughout their primary and secondary school education, and furthermore, their involvement in Extracurricular activities that take place at school. Our Education system should focus on not purely nurturing students academically, but must encourage participation in activities outside the classroom. Creating a balance between academics, and activities such as sports, arts and community service, will produce students that are well-rounded and better qualified to access scholarship and financial aid opportunities in schools abroad.
