Mjue Ebrahim Makunja aka Ras Makunja




The Tanzania brandfire musician ,bandleader and founder of most famous  “Ngoma Africa band,
Base in Germany, Ebrahim Makunja also known as Kamanda Ras Makunja (FFU),former  Dar City Rudeboy
Born in Dar-es-salaam,Tanzania.His father was government  servernt known as Jumanne Saleh Makunja and mother Moza Hassan.
Ras Makunja  is vocalist,Songwriter,Percussionist,Poetist and dancer. On the year 1993 he found the most famous  “Ngoma Africa Band” aka FFU base in Germany.
 Ras Makunja did a lot of East African music and  he is successful by combining and mixing traditional  Music  of Tanzania with modern music.
He found a version wich runs the audience crazy.Nationally and Internationally he became Guru in his career.He started his music career in the early age in Dar-es-salaam,When he was in school theatre group.
In the year 1975 he was choosen to join TANU YOUTH LEAGUE  Dancing and theater  at Kinondoni,
Dar-es-salaam,Tanzania,there  meet Michael Pangalala the leader and guitarist of the TONIC’s  BAND in Dar-es-salaam.He tought him and predect  that Ras Makunja will one  day be a star.
 It wasn’t  easy  for Ras Makunja to go forward with music because of school life. His parents wanted him to finish school and hence be intellectual. It was tough challenge but no way the could stop him to do music.


 
In 1980  he joined Butiama jazz band base in Dar, owned by  Mr. Mustapha Mkwega,then worked with  band Roots & Culture, he worked with one Jah Kimbute Mleteni, at  same  time he did his own  research by travelling to many Tanzanians regions and districts ,Searching for traditional music as well as outside Tanzania.
 Kamanda Ras Makunja very known as tough and rude on the stage,but very diplomatic sometime miltant musician,with self confidence and international reputation who like to share platform and ready to face international challenge.
He is known  Kamanda Ras Makunja (FFU),leader of most famous Ngoma Africa Band and son of Africa as well as “Brother of everyone”
