DAR ES SALAAM INDEPENDENT SCHOOL (DIS) CONTRIBUTES Tshs 1.5 MILLION TO THE ONGOING ALLY REMTULLAH’S ZAIN FASHION FOR EDUCATION BENEFIT.

The Dar es Salaam Independent School (DIS) has recently contributed 1.5 Million Tsh. to the Ally Remtullah’s Zain Fashion for Education Benefit. The benefit is a charity event that aims at raising funds for the deteriorating situation facing Kisarawe Secondary Schools.

The deputy head mistress for the school, Ms. Angelika Hub-Bwana, said that ‘we are pleased to come on board and involve our students in this worthy cause. It is important for the DIS students to understand the importance of giving back and helping other students in public schools especially since they are fortunate to have proper learning facilities and a conducive learning environment".

In a heartfelt speech to the students and teachers when receiving the cheque.Ally expressed his gratitude and said “I am deeply moved by the immediate response from the school administration to reach out and support the schools in Kisarawe which are faced with vast education challenges due to lack of laboratories, insufficient classrooms, limited learning facilities and poor sanitation just to mention a few.

In the past year only 3% of students who graduated from form 4 passed with division 3 to continue to form 5. There was no 1 or 2 division. The remaining percent of the students got division 4 and 0. The situation will only change once these students have proper learning facilities and teachers. The situation will only get worse if nothing is done soon. I am therefore very grateful that D.I.S students, teachers and the whole administration understand the importance and urgency of the situation and acted on it.”

Ally, in association with ZAIN, has teamed up with the Kisarawe Education Development Fund to carry out a two months campaign to raise Tshs. 100,000,000 for the Kisarawe Secondary Schools. The campaign was launched in the beginning of February 2010 by the Deputy Minister for Education Hon. Mwantumu Mahiza and will culminate in a gala to be held towards the end of April.
